My name is Angelina. I made a decision to study foundation pre degree, to help me find my path within art and design. I really enjoyed all parts of the course and chose to specialise within visual communication. I have always been interested in exploring difficult topics in my art work and communicating my personal views and opinions, which is why I was mainly drawn to this pathway.
I always try to take a really broad approach to any subject matter. I begin with extensive research to fully understand the theme and then experiment with various techniques to find the best way to communicate my message.
My inspiration comes directly from my life experiences or things that are happening around me. My aim for my final major project, was to investigate mental health issues and come up with solutions as well as share my own experiences. I was hoping to communicate ways in which you can improve your mental wellbeing, through creating a guidebook that young people can refer to for guidance. This idea realisation came from the situation that I was in personally due to the lockdown. I struggled a lot with my mental health while isolating and not being able to experience much human contact from my friends or family. It was also really difficult to find motivation for my studies which affected my creativity. This inspired me to research into mental wellbeing and find solutions to help myself out of this position. I began to take part in activities to help me overcome my stress which elevated my positivity. It was at this point that I decided to share these tips with others who may be going through the same issue via my final major project.
Throughout this course, I have learnt a lot of different processes, which I have never come across before. I particularly discovered my interest in animation, as well as using photography combined with digital software to be my preferred method in communicating my ideas.
