My project, Fashion Rotary is based on the lifestyle of the 1960s-70s Hippie Era which also consists of the aspects of sustainability, upcycling and craftivism. I was fascinated by the way of living in this period and how they edited or upgraded the old into having another life as well as having a general interest in climate change, globalisation and the impact in today’s society. I wanted to use my skills as a method to share the dangers and the reality of humanity’s actions, which made this the project’s focal point. I used the origin of climate change in the 60s and the increase in constant warnings which we have ignored as a worldwide community (that has created this irreversible chaos) to find that I enjoyed exploring the conflict side and to challenge myself into finding a solution. In this case, I used scraps since there is no point in being sustainable if the leftovers are still being dumped in landfill.
