Theme

I have always been driven by Artists who incorporate the means of ‘Subverting’ throughout their work as I find it humorous and clever.

This Final Piece aims to confuse the onlooker as it subverts product names of well-known brands. This piece was inspired by the manipulation techniques of discount supermarket chains of well-known brands to help better sell their products and steal the market. The familiar colours, names and qualities of these products have been altered to create confusion and to be a form of entertainment. This piece aims to confuse the onlooker and create a sense of realisation that we are constantly bombarded everyday with advertisements that we become immersed and the nature of brands becomes innate to us. My collection aims to make people double take and reflect on the change of what is seen as ‘normality’.
