Theme

For my final major project, I created a garment based on personal identity. Having dual heritage (half Zambian half British) I wanted to combine these two cultures into a fashion project. The pattern and colours represent Africa (which completed through lino printing). Furthermore, the style of the garment emphasises the British side (such as the corset top). Sadly my sewing machine broke near the end so there’s a missing corset boning and I didn’t quite achieve my expectations. As an additional piece, I strip weaved (African textile technique) leftover fabric into a shoulder bag. But overall I am happy with my outcome and proud.
