Theme

My folio includes numerous and diverse outcome that include experimental films, online exhibitions, zines and installations.

The Intimacies exhibition is a collection of works themed around the body and the interpersonal relationships created through the culture of dating in 2021, with a visual anthology curated this year. The outcome includes autobiographical themes engaging in the raw and personal aspects of life events of the past year. The intimate and personal style of much of my work expresses my view that art and life are inseparable and mutually symbiotic. I apply participatory practices to collect, explore and critique social constructions of meaning and identity drawing on religious beliefs, social media and data analysis. Participatory methods that incorporate online curation allow for interdisciplinary formats and outcomes that incorporate the analogue and numerous digital technologies.

My curatorial practise is collaborative. I gather diverse experiences and perspectives on different topics to develop visual work to various themes.  I am interested in our sensory and spiritual connections to nature.

Working with peers I curated the Mycorrhiza: Natures Networks. My major solo sculptural installation work entitled You’re Mine. features a large inflatable balloon mounted with macro photographs of love bites to signify ambiguous woundings and possessive love. Recordings of participants talking about possessive love & monogamy are presented in the wider context of polyamory or free love. The work explores complex tropes of romantic love, marking and possession against the backdrop of free love. The work incorporates sugar and confection to express notions of fresh teen first-love energy. A slow image projection of the stick and poke tattoo rendering the phrases of the love hearts ‘You’re Mine’ emphasises teen culture, tattoos of love interests and questions of trust. The audio component includes two couples – an open couple, together since early teens, and another heavily into the BDSM culture. The overlapping voices express personal and intimate experiences that allow audiences to eavesdrop on the complex navigation and internal dialogue and conflict young teens go through in defining territories of love and trust.

Entanglements is a large lenticular print of a chain of people in a row animating as you walk past to kiss.  Headphones between each kissing couple contain differing first-person accounts. The work is inspired by ideas of tantric sexual energy and transference.

Saudade is a sound artwork.  A conch shell encased is a speaker who plays faint sounds of a curated online database with spoken definitions of the word Saudade. A QR code invites viewers to contribute their own song. The outcome is a mixtape of analogous to an ocean of sound and collective consciousness.

The installation In the sheets consists of three large scale wall hung sheets – like painted canvases – I invited different people, couples and singles to immerse themselves in paint and make love or masturbate and express their physical selves – orgasmic responses in colour and as energy transfer. I will be taking up a Postgraduate degree programme of study in Curatorial Practice in London, and more examples of my work, zines and curatorial can be found here. I am always keenly seeking opportunities to exhibit my work and collaborate on the creative project so please get in touch.
