Theme

Eschatological Examinations: I wanted to ask some higher order questions. I think a pertinent question that Western society tip-toes around is death. It raises so many philosophical questions about the nature of being and the ideas held by religious traditions.

I wanted my work to simulate a possible eschatological state after the point of death.

A large body of my work centred around creating parallels to the visuals described first hand accounts of Near Death Experiences (NDE’s) through colour and light.

In studio, I wanted to  simulate first hand experiences of death by imitating NDE’s and synthesise this with religious theories of death such as the six Buddhist realms of rebirth and existence and the Christian notion of the ‘Book of Deeds’.

My work also explored the ritualistic traditions of death- particularly in creating death masks.
