Theme

A contemporary flaneur guided still by passing fancy but acutely aware of what’s commonly unseen: Merz (inspired by Schwitters-Kom-‘merz’; large-scale exchange of goods and services).

An abject mass accumulating quietly under its own progress. I pick up shit – unwanted trash talismans insidiously mapping a play of human histories.

I walk and gather by instinct and use whatever I find.

Whatever is cheap.

In this most recent body of work I have been drawn to colours that advertise themselves boldly, sweet wrappers and plastic bags; synthetic colours.

I’m increasingly fascinated by the blurred boundaries of reality and cyber space and I’ve been exploring the semblance between technology and nature. Does technology act as a force of nature? Or have humans have control over its power? Technology has become natural and nothing is quite as it seems.
