This installation with both images and soundscape are inspired by criminal portraiture and social stereotypes reflected through the media, especially within newsprint. This lead me to research photofit portraits and how the faces of criminals and crimes are portrayed within our culture. Using a mixed media approach allowed me to create a layered effect which I hope reflects how misinterpreted crimes and criminals can be portrayed. Through this process I was playful with manipulation and wanted to create depth to my work suggesting the difficulties that may be experienced by victims of crime recalling visual memory.
