For my Final Major Project, I explored personal identity through creating stamps, as I enjoy collecting stamps. What I have created for my outcome is four stamp sets; Half of the stamps are based off of ‘personas’ I dressed up as, using my cosplay wigs as inspiration for these different characters. The indigo set is my original self, with the other sets being different outfits, wigs and makeup. Each of the stamps have their own mood, which I showed through changing the stitching of the mouth and eyes. The other half of the stamps are based on items I carry inside my bag, which I think can also highlight parts of someone’s identity. I used a mix of lino printing, paint, and sewing to complete my final outcome, as I enjoy mixed media. Coincidentally, I used two warm colours and two cold colours, which creates a contrast between the entire outcome. Within each of the stamp sets, there is a single image transfer, which I added in because I like the juxtaposition between the patchy, photographic effect and the uniform shapes of the other stamps.
