This final major project surrounds the theme of “humanity’s influence on nature”. My main focus for the visuals was to aim for a series of conceptual art that would be within the fictional world of a video game called: “Concrete Jungle”.
The selection of images is a narrative collection of the world I have created, you can see a flow from each piece to show a new location and environment to explore the details.
The work I have produced surrounds the concept of nature intertwined within humanity and how man-made products and structures can shape our natural surroundings significantly. This revolves around the concept of simplicity vs complexity and how as a society we have forced our basic life skills to be part of a complex system of governmental force rather than living freely. This will be a (hypothetical) game called ‘Concrete Jungle’ which focuses on the impact humanity has made on Earth after a mass extinction has occurred (due to a possible conflict/warfare in this fictional scenario). The world will be altered into a surreal depiction of reality by creating hybrid creatures both from historical legends throughout the world and new ideas. The main story will present one of the last remaining humans that have to travel throughout the harsh landscapes to seek out new hope and restoring balance.
For the visual colour palette, I wanted to create a range in vibrancy that nature has and how different landscapes hold their own “personalities” with biodiversity that has adapted specifically to these aspects. For example, in a colder environment, I used cool tones like blue with details of pink and red to balance the focus or a hotter environment with deep oranges and browns. The creatures must also slightly blend in as a form of camouflage that is necessary for nature for survival.
