As a gay man, one of my main goals within my practice is to showcase love stories between men. In particular, the stories that have been ignored and hidden for centuries, and even millennia. So, I decided to tackle what is arguably the oldest known gay love story, all the way from Ancient Greece, between the well-known hero Achilleus and his childhood friend and partner, Patroklos. To tell this comic I consulted Homer’s ‘Iliad’ and Madeline Miller’s ‘Song of Achilles’ and used a mix of paint markers and digital work to achieve my final product.
