Poco (meaning little in Spanish) is a monthly magazine for 18-25-year-old females, highlighting the ins and outs of small, international, businesses run by women. The main source of inspiration for this magazine was triggered by the rise in makers on social media turning their passions into a business during the first lockdown in 2020.
During the first lockdown in 2020, I started a small business called Bloom By Grace where I hand-make and sell toiletry bags via Instagram. I noticed a community of makers starting up businesses through Instagram and gaining a devoted following who were eager to learn more about the makers behind their favourite small brands. This inspired the idea for Poco. Poco is not just a business magazine or a craft magazine, it is a maker’s magazine. No other magazine exclusively highlights female makers who run small businesses. It provides a visually enticing platform to grow businesses whilst educating those who want to be on the same level. This niche concept is Poco’s unique selling point. After posting the magazine on my Tik Tok and other social media sites, I have now sold over 100 copies and intend on pursuing a second issue over summer.
