The Traditional Moroccan Salon
North African salons are renowned for their unique design, specifically the traditional Moroccan salon. The Moroccan salon is rich in colour, cultural value and heritage with individuals from Morocco, always seeking to tailor their property even if they do not reside within their country of origin. Additionally, my journey of capturing the tailored salons within different parts of London has enlightened me on the personal value families express within their home to ensure that objects which are designed and produced in Morocco are imported to reinforce their comfort of living outside their motherland. Interestingly, the images expose how each individual interprets how their home ought to look which uncovered great diversity. However, the core principle of the salon never changes. Therefore, understanding each individual’s perception and story of creating and importing the salon reinforces the unique design and cultural link to individuals’ comfort and heritage.
