Not only do I enjoy animation and creating stories, but I am also fascinated by dreams, the stories we create subconsciously, so the animation I created throughout this project, titled ‘Just A Dream’, is about looking at dreams and how they are the manifestation of someone’s emotions and problems. A major point in my animation is about facing some of those problems, and taking a weight off your shoulders, but not having to do it all at once because that can be overwhelming. I looked very closely into even the subtlest of meanings in dreams by studying both mine and others. At the time, nothing in a dream makes sense, so I made a confusing atmosphere that is muddled with sound and scary red lighting, along with sudden cuts to each new scene, and glitches, that seem to happen when dreaming. I looked into stop-motion to show a dream as it’s often a very uncanny form of animation, which is exactly what I was going for, as well as exploring different puppet designs to portray certain aspects and meanings of a dream.
