Joe Fernandez

My final project is a collection of mixed media collages. The collection is called ‘Hidden Figures’. My work is about important people from the past, that are hidden from the history books and are not famous for something that changed and shaped the world to be what is today. I have touched on the issues of racism and cultural appropriation and how that has hidden important people from fame and acclaim. Through my final piece I want to educate my audience on each person and what they did but also evoke an emotional response to the reason why the people were hidden from history , whether that be because of their race, sexual orientation or beliefs.
