BA (Hons) Fine Art - Farnham

Theme

I’ve just completed my BA (Hons) Fine Art degree the University of Creative Arts (Farnham).  In my artistic practice, I have been interested in:

  • using natural materials as a starting point for works- particularly sheep’s wool as a symbol of the masses
  • the global need for human agency, rather than hegemony
  • the need to protect the natural environment and instinctive behaviours of its inhabitants
  • conveying these messages via text or symbolism and subverting craft pieces

You can view some of my work @ucafarnhamart and @millett.joy

With #installation and sculptural works based around rural, pagan and pastoral paradoxes, I have been exploring the cultural and political manifestations of belief, value systems, control and hegemony, alongside the strategies we may seek to evade these systems.  Going forward, I would like to consolidate my practice by relinquishing existing language forms and messaging in an experimental way, working towards emancipatory practice and research, and exploring spaces in which to practice.
