I am a keen learner, always looking for new ways to develop my skills to fulfil my ideas. I am drawn to compelling branding, layouts and typography, with great consideration to detail and intricacy. I have a diverse range of interests, from editorial design to craftsmanship, thriving in an environment that is hands-on and thought-provoking.
The Design Tourist Travel Guides are a designer’s approach to connecting with a city from a visual perspective, bringing you the best of the world’s most creative cities, tailored to the world’s design lovers; with aims to use paper as a way of communicating to an audience of designers by creating a tactile, immersive and interactive experience.
The Design Tourist was born from my personal desire to visit creative and inspirational attraction when I travel. Having always undertaken extensive research before a trip, I wanted to create a guide where the information has been accumulated for you, designed in a way that is both desirable and informative to designers.
Each guide will feature a colour representative of the city, with the New York guide incorporating a bold use of yellow inspired by the iconic taxicab. Perfect bound by hand, the New York guide features fall short, fold-out and vellum pages, created and printed at home, using a variety of GF Smith papers.
The Design Tourist Research Book is a compilation of condensed findings that explain context, focus and goals, that helped guide and inspire The Design Tourist Travel Guides. Within the book, you will find historical and contemporary research, editorial design, travel guide analysis and key readings, carefully designed to highlight my research and design process, as well as reflect The Design Tourist style.
Printed, foiled and bound at home, The Design Tourist Research Book features iridescent foil, vellum and vinyl, used as a way of highlighting the different colours that represent each city, as well as creating an engaging and tactile experience.
