Through my Final Major Project I created work around the theme of Climate Change. I was interested to delve into a subject that I previously didn’t know much information about and create work that could aim to show the effects that humans are having on our planet, on-top of creating awareness for climate change. For my final outcomes I created 3 moving posters and 3 still posters.
For my moving poster backgrounds I used cyanotypes in different colours, each colour relating to climate change in different ways. I decided to use the wording “Climate Change Is The Biggest Crisis Humanity Has Ever Faced” and edit it so that it melted at the same time as the ice in a bold Helvetica typeface, proven to capture your attention and create a powerful impact. I then added my ice time-lapse videos to the posters which were shot over a 7 hour period taking 1 image every minute.
To create my still posters I took a still from the first frame of each of my moving poster and printed them onto lustre which was then mounted onto foam boarding.
To finish off the project I edited my posters onto billboards showing where they could end up in the future. This could include changing the wording to fit the location, for example “whilst you are waiting for your bus 1o million tones of ice has melted in Greenland.”
