My approach for this work was to create something that is all about me and no one else and get all the things that make me happy/sad/scared just all my favourite things about life in this series. The motivation that I had this project for this work all came from me showing my love and how passionate I am about the signs, I wanted it to be clear of what I don’t and do like in these signs (fears and love). My theme for the work was personal identity and the type of art that was the main focus for this project was poster art/ visual communications. The main inspiration for this project was road signs and the symbols in them, what I mean by that is that everyone is able to understand what the road signs means with just a picture and I wanted to have that approach with my work and have symbols in the road signs images that people are able to understand just by looking at it once and that was what I was trying to achieve with the final pieces. The media that was used for the final pieces was printing ink I used this because I felt that it was give a better outcome then acrylic and I was right. The series and topics consists of different topics them being Fears, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, Family. Stencils were used to try and give the image/ symbol a clean look and the outside being bad condition like the signs that you would see in the country lanes. The two people that were the main focus for this project were Jock Kinneir and Margaret Calvert as they were the people that designed the UK road signs throughout the whole of the country. The process that I used for the borders/ base of the signs where done by mono printing and the symbols were done by stencils.
