Miranda Sage

This is my showcase of work I have completed over the year. I found throughout my course so far that I have been more drawn to do digital work. With my most successful pieces being the photography, films and animations, I created. I look forward to further developing these next year. I hope to maybe go into an animation or digital art-related career in the future and have learnt a plethora of skills this year to help me on that journey.

Being in a college environment where everyone is creative and has different ideas has given me more motivation than I expected. With projects like my final one, I was motivated from my home life to tell a story with art. I took inspiration from the memories and experiences of my parents which makes my work very personal and drives my need to make it perfect. Artists like Carolina Rodriguez Fuenmayor, James Jean and Sivan Kidron have been massive inspirations, especially with my final animation.

Within all the work I have created a concept and point to them or followed a brief. This is an approach I have followed so far; this has let me have a basis for my ideas and allowed me to develop them to the certain idea I want to communicate. For the digital work, I have edited it all on my laptop and used a mix of FireAlpaca and VideoEditor for my animations.  I did a rough sketch first then scanned it into the software. With the photography I did not have access to a camera and so had to use my phone but I do not think this affected the quality and was still pleased with the outcome. The work I produce goes through lots of different ideas so I can decide which is the best at the end. This allows me to constantly reflect on what I produce and think about how I can develop and improve it.
