Penelope Bernard

My name is Penny Bernard and I am an archaeologist, historian and artist who works with textiles, mixed media and embellishment to help tell the stories of people and events connected to heritage sites. My final major project was an exploration of Walmer Castle and some of it’s most interesting residents. I often find people learn more from the gift shop than the site itself so I tried to create a range of prints and products that could tell people about the wonderful history of the place, in a whimsical and informative fashion. I wanted to help people fall in love with this magical castle and give them something tangible to take home to remember it by.
