Poppy Porter

Extended Diploma in Art & Design - Year 2 - Canterbury

Theme

My name is Poppy Porter, and I work with textile print. I have a passion for colour and pattern. I love creating one off mixed media prints in bold and daring designs. My Final Major Project explores The Big Cat Sanctuary, a local charity that looks after a wide variety of big cats. I worked to create designs that celebrate the amazing cats in their care and show how unique it is to have exotic cats in the middle of the Kentish countryside. During the project I have explored garment construction, various at home and studio-based printing techniques, and have developed an interest in fabric manipulation and embellishment. In September I will be going to Central St Martins to study Textile design.

Collaging my prints and playing around with how I might use them in different contexts. Here I would design bedding to be used in the lodges you can stay in at The Big Cat Sanctuary.
