We fear the dark because it takes away our agency. We cannot see in the darkness, making us vulnerable to attack. We drive ourselves crazy with stories of what lies in the dark. Some stories are imaginary, and some are based on true stories. Inspired by folk tales such as the Kuchisake-onna and changelings, this project uses photo sequences to explore what could lurk in the darkness, and how our lack of knowledge drives us to create stories that fill the gaps.
