I used this project to combine my love of football and love of design. Looking at the world’s biggest teams, a real trend is emerging in the way they present themselves as brands as well as clubs. Where once a badge and a set of colours was the full extent of a club’s identity, today football clubs frequently have the same amount of consideration put into their branding as major international companies.
My local town’s football team is Godalming Town FC, they’re not quite on the same scale as the likes of Barcelona or other top flight teams and so their identity isn’t at this level either. For this project I considered how this identity would come to life if Godalming Town FC was one of these major clubs and how I would draw inspiration from their limited existing branding and create a new one from it.
