I started this Access Course set on going towards the Graphic Design/Illustration path, however, I instead became increasingly fascinated with the process of Animation throughout the lessons, and I will be enrolling on UCA’s Animation course next year!
I am primarily a digital artist, although I often like to integrate traditional techniques within my art pieces. Work within my showcase submission was inspired by traditional folklore & pagan outfits, with their intricate captivating costumes. The subject is close to me and my family, and it gave me some wonderful ideas for character designs. Researching this subject gave me a greater appreciation of using the world around me as inspiration, which I attempted to capture within my illustrative work.
My animated work however was instead inspired by the idea of “transition”, whether that be a transition of mood, medium, or a narrative transition. I really wanted to experiment with animation as I am quite new to it and wanted to find new and interesting ways to express my ideas with moving image. The showcase includes a showreel of the animated work I created within my Access Course.
