White Rabbit is a 2D animation short exploring science fiction/mythic themes. Throughout my time at university, I have explored the themes of heritage, culture, social media and technology through the use of visual metaphors and symbolism. This has led me to touch on the discourse of human evolution and our relationship with technology for my experimental animation through the connection of fantasy versus reality, and history versus science. This was inspired by the books Sapiens and Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Harari. My short animated film reflects upon my fascination for sound while still taking a transcendental and ephemeral animated style to pinpoint the transformation from mere mortals to godlike cybernetics.
The concept of examining what humans were like from the beginning (the age of evolution), who we are now (the dark age of digital) and where we will be headed are what my film will explore (the age of immortal cybernetics). I aim to produce a colourful and psychedelic animation while also using symbolism and metaphors to convey the meaning of human fate.
During the past 4 years of university, I have embodied the skills of a multimedia artist as a gaffer, audio specialist, camera operator, producer and creative director. Having worked on a wide range of projects such as music videos, dance films, photography shoots, I hope to pursue becoming a creative director for either a magazine company or film studio and/or as a freelance multimedia artist.
