The shapes, colours, and details of fungi have been the inspiration for my final collection. After rambling through woods and forests in search of as many wonderful mushrooms as I could find, I used these to explore design ideas on the stand. By using old field guides, I was able to identify and further research each fungus I found, allowing me to use this information as a means to inform my sketches and designs more deeply. I loved the biology of the mushrooms, and one of the most integral parts of my collection is the freehand embroidery, inspired by the mycelium, which I used to seam fabrics together and create entire new sheets of fabric. From the gorgeous Blusher with its pinkish hues which inspired my colour and fabric choices to the Puffball fungus whose form led to me emulating it in textured fabrics, this collection is softened, fun, and elegant.
