KinderEgg is a short documentary film that explores the challenges of growing up as a person of colour in Kent. Made up of five interviews, the film shares different experiences whilst educating viewers on what it is like to be a person of colour here in Britain.  Relating to being a KinderEgg comes from a feeling of being brown on the outside and white on the inside. Growing up in Kent from a young age, having pride for a culture outside of the UK can be difficult. A feeling of isolation and separation from your identity as a person of colour is tough and growing to appreciate your unique upbringing can take time. However, this film is dedicated to the community of minorities who have yet to be represented in mainstream media and to those who can resonate with the struggles discussed by a diverse range of people. Sharing their experiences and giving advice to younger generations, these five UCA students discuss themes of bullying and racism, ‘imposter syndrome’, ethnic food and culture, role models and explores the question ‘What does it mean to be British?’
