Yu Liang

This project was inspired by the shell souvenirs my father bought me when I was a child. The two series of works I have made are like carriers of memory. I use existing things and memories to complete a new thing, to create a new memory, including the old memories together, so that all the memories can be connected, making them stronger, more reliable and more irreplaceable. They’re like a chain, one link at a time, connecting them like a time chain. The colourful colours of the ring carry the memories of my childhood and the same love for my father.

I used software to model, photosensitive resin and soft rubber for 3D printing, as well as silver used for casting. I used the fusion of new technology and new materials as well as traditional materials to create a new souvenir that carries the memories of the old and new expectations for the future.
