Theme

The title of this project is “Learning to Eat” and the main concept of it is self-sufficient. This idea come from the job of lay brothers who used to be the main user for the selected site. The are an independent society within the abbey.

Therefore, I created a food workshop that need no supply of energy and ingredient from other places.

In this project, I tried to explore how an individual workshop that be building in the countryside could be self-sufficient. To explore that, I created an enclosed circulation system and used the existing natural elements from the surrounding. I unraveled the user experience process into four parts: Seeding, Growth, Creation, Consumption, and after that, it will go back and start from seeding again. Furthermore, in this project, it is not only shows that the design could be self-sufficient, but also shows that the learning process of users could learn how to cook on their own with the resources only supplied by the workshop and workshop staffs.

To express this design concept, I combined digital and physical model to shows both atmosphere and physical details.

Hope you will enjoy my work.
