In this project, the research topic I chose is one of the problems faced by gay marriage in forming a homosexual group in China.Marriage of convenience refers to the phenomenon where LGBT chooses to marry the opposite sex when same-sex marriage is illegal in China. The nature of marriage is a disguise. In order to make the society more acceptable, in order to give an explanation to the family. I chose this topic because the Marriage of convenience issue is a representative issue in the issue of gays and lesbians in China, and is influenced by traditional Chinese culture and family values. According to the Chinese people, marriage is a very important thing in life. In Confucianism, the concepts of “no one is great without filial piety” and “family harmony and prosperity” also have an impact on Marriage of convenience.

My last job was film editing, linking film fragments with simple storylines and using a background music as a basis. I used the Japanese song “Eutopia” by Yoohsic Roomz as the background music. The film information comes from four Chinese same-sex movies, namely “Lan Yu” by Stanley Kwan Kam-Pang, “Your Name Engraved Herein” by Liu Guanghui, “ The Wedding Banquet” by Ang Lee and “Dear EX” by Mag Hsu and Xu Zhiyan. These four movies all contain fragments of physical marriage and ended in tragedy. They are the truest portrayal of same-sex marriage and love in China. This also means that formal marriage cannot solve LGBT marriage problems. In essence, this makes LGBT more painful and unable to marry a lover, which also puts more pressure on the LGBT community. Since the current Chinese society does not allow the spread of LGBT culture, these four films cannot be shown in movie theatres. So I want to use this opportunity to let the world hear the voice of the Chinese LGBT community, and express the pain and pressure faced by the Chinese LGBT community through the issue of form marriage. I hope the audience can understand and tolerate Chinese LGBT more through my works.
